We recently spent a week at our property, with the primary goal of clearing a tent and fire pit area. Marking the homestead's border proved surprisingly challenging due to the parallelogram shape of the land. We began by clearing trees and underbrush, stacking the wood for future firewood and piling the brush. While pine forests typically have minimal underbrush, what we encountered was a thorny, unpleasant variety. Once we move, our chipper will be invaluable, as wood chips will be one of our most used materials. Landstruck had already cleared a driveway for parking (16 feet), but we aimed to extend it three times its current length. The profound quietness of the property was striking and deeply enjoyable. Unfortunately, the nights didn't cooperate; persistent cloud cover obscured the stars. When the sky finally cleared, the cold limited our stargazing, though the beauty of the night sky was as breathtaking as our last visit. We also had the pleasure of meeting some of our new neighbors and are confident we'll love living there. For Thanksgiving, we celebrated at Christy and Wes's, where Mom prepared an incredible feast. We were so full that we took pumpkin pie to go, which, by the way, makes a fabulous breakfast with coffee! We're planning another trip on March 1st to clear enough trees to accommodate the conex, which will be delivered during a separate trip in June.
