We're eagerly anticipating our final trip to Tennessee in June to prepare our land. In the meantime, we have plenty to keep us busy.
First, I want to address the recent severe weather in Tennessee. High winds, tornadoes, hail, and heavy rain have caused significant damage. Our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones or everything they own due to these storms. We can only imagine the immense challenges they face and hope they find strength to rebuild and heal.
You might be wondering how our land fared. Thanks to our wonderful neighbors who keep a watchful eye on things for us, we're happy to report that the only issue was a toppled woodpile. We stacked our wood between pine trees, and strong winds can cause them to sway and shift things around. Otherwise, everything is well. A huge thank you to Michelle and Chad for looking after our property!
Our property features a large ravine, and we've always suspected it might have a wet-weather creek. However, we hadn't experienced any rain during our previous visits. Chad graciously offered to investigate for us, and as you'll see in the pictures, we do indeed have a wet-weather creek! It may not be grand, but it's ours.
So, what's happening here in Michigan? We had hoped to list our house by April 1st, but uncooperative weather has thrown a wrench in our plans. Plus, as we tick items off our to-do list, a few more seem to appear! We're doing our best. Our bedroom has officially relocated to the living room, and we've completed three rooms, including dusting, carpet shampooing, and screen replacement. The weather forecast looks more favorable this weekend, so we're optimistic about wrapping things up and getting the house on the market as soon as possible. Our next big undertaking after the house is listed will be a garage sale. We've been accumulating items in the garage, and our plan is to get everything organized and set up so we can simply open the door and be ready for shoppers. We really need everything to sell, as we're significantly downsizing from a 900 sq ft house to a 276 sq ft cabin. While that may sound ambitious, we intend to do most of our living outdoors.
